What is play therapy?

Play therapy allows a child to process their thoughts, feelings and memories through play. Lisa Mulheir is trained to Masters level to practice the PTUK model which is integrative and holistic. The child will attend sessions on the same day and at the same time. This consistency is vitally important so that the child builds trust and so the child can prepare themselves for when the sessions are to take place.

Some children find it difficult to say how they feel so feelings might come out in other ways through their behaviour. Play Therapy allows a child to work through their thoughts and feelings using sand play, toys, musical instruments and art materials. By using the toys children can work through difficult memories and emotions that might be affecting them and causing problems in other areas of their lives.
